Race update 25/08/2020

I have had another meeting with Bromley Council yesterday about this year’s race.

Unfortunately it not good news. They feel that its sill to unsafe to run the race though Scadbury park. The park is used by a lot off dog walkers and parts of the run course are very narrow.

Also the Start and finish area that we use is not very big so overcrowding would be a problem.

We then have the problem of toilets. Before we have used the Bull Hotel and the Walnuts cafe.

So sadly we have had to cancel this year’s race.

On the other hand, we have been given the OK from Dartford council to still run the Dartford Bridge 10k on the 27th September.

Everyone of course can have a full refund or we can transfer you over to the Bridge 10k.

If you can e-mail me on johnsetford@hotmail.co.uk and let me know what you would like to do.

If we don’t hear back from you within the next 2 weeks we will give you a full refund.

I am sorry that we have had to cancel but it’s out of our control.

Stay safe and take care.

John

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Guidance for Road Race and Multi-Terrain Race Organisers in the UK

Road running

The UK Government have announced that outdoor sport and physical activity participation events in England will be able to take place from 11th July.

Whilst we look forward to the return of our sport, please note that all runbritain licenced races are cancelled until 31st July and this position will remain. The reason for this is that Covid-19 guidance to race organisers on staging off-track events that meet the Government guidelines issued on 10 July have been produced. Read the advice here.

It will be a condition of licenced races that they indicate that they have read the Covid-19 guidelines; have understood these new requirements and agreed to implement them as appropriate to their event.

Please note that the Covid-19 guidelines will require: –
  • Race organisers to draft additional plans such as a Covid-19 Risk Assessment
  • A number of measures to be introduced which may require extra resource in terms of time, equipment, personnel and budget.
  • Additional communication with participants to update them on arrangements made by an event to mitigate against the risk of catching Covid-19
It should also be borne in mind that additional liaison with stakeholders such as Local Authorities and landowners could be required to gain their approval of the event.

If you have any queries then please contact glightwood@uka.org.uk

Track and field events

England Athletics has the following announcement with regard to track and field events.

=================================================

Registration will open at 8am and will be on the Triangle by the traffic lights.

Royal Parade, Chislehurst BR7 6NR

All race numbers and timing chips will be picked up on race day.

The race start is 300m away just past the Bull Hotel

The 10k race will start at 10am.

The fun run will start at 11.40am

I will be adding the start list to the web site Wednesday evening.

Bag storage will be by the finish area.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to start the race on the road. We could not get police cover to stop the traffic. The race will start just inside the wood about 300m from registration.

We are very lucky the Walnuts Cafe and Bull Hotel are allowing us to use their Toilets. Can enter from the side of the Hotel not the front door. Please can you keep them both tidy.

Pop in and support them both after for a recovery Coffee or Pint but only 1 if you are driving. They also both serve a very high stranded of food.

If you are a 32 to 35-minute runner, then you should be near the front at the start. If you are a bit slower try and put yourself in the right place. It’s a chipped run so your time will start when you cross the mat.

Please keep to the side when running as there will other people using the park.

Please take care as you will be running on uneven ground. There will be gravel and tree roots to contend with so be careful.

I will send out a final update Friday evening for late entries.
